Great Game!

I looooove this game!!!

Great game, but missing something...

I love rogue style games. I played through dungeonism and had a great time. I finally conquered every level of every dungeon. ..and then nothing happened. I tried saving up to buy the atlas in case I missed something, but was told Ive already unlocked every dungeon on my own. Part of the reason I play RPGs, especially hard ones, is so when I beat them, the game acknowledges my victory. That didnt happen here. I didnt get closure. Im like a victory junkie who has conquered the mountain but didnt even get one congraturation. Put it an ending. It is all this game needs to be perfect.

Brutal but rewarding

Great art, great gameplay and a comfortable learning curve. Dungeons are small enough to play on the go while making you think of the best possible way to take enemies out.

Vary enjoyable

I have found this game to be well-made & I have enjoyed it very much. I look forward to seeing what this developer comes up with next.

3rd level

Jeff, this is Yasha. I beat the 3rd level.

A lot of fun!

Ive been scouring the App Store for roguelike games and most have been irritating or convoluted. This is the first one Ive played that felt optimal for the iOS touch interface and a lot of fun at the same time. Totally worth the purchase.

Cool game!

I dont usually buy games, but Ive been a fan of rogue style games since Temple of Apshai and wanted to try it out. This game reminds me a lot of Apshai, and Im glad I gave it a go. Im only on the third level thus far, so I cant proclaim to know the game in its entirety, but I like what Ive seen thus far. The graphics are like updates versions of old school rogue games, and I think the monsters are nicely rendered. The gameplay is fast and I have noticed that its not a just slash and run game, it helps to have a strategy. Overall, totally worth the purchase, and I will be playing it a lot on my upcoming 12 hour flight!

Excellent! So glad I took a chance on this..

If youre a fan of tactical turn-based dungeon delving then this is a must buy. I love the variety of challenges beyond combat; from sliding ice blocks to pressure plates and more. Game rewards skill and encourages creative thinking. I have played many, many levels and not once died or gotten stuck. Though, I could have easily died many times, had I mindlessly rushed forward. Only negative is the curiously random way the game explains "how to play". Youre often doing something well before the game explains it. And the exact impact of stat upgrades is never clear. Still, these are minor flaws, the game is worthy of its place alongside the mighty Warhammer Quest or brilliant Hoplite. Regarding the quirky art, the screenshots really dont do it justice. I held off buying this because the art seemed, too simplistic. Now I love the style! Once youre playing, it really does come together and creates both a unique and memorable experience. Edit: I shouldnt have bragged about not dying. Soon afterward, and just like a greedy dwarf, I went too deep and got eaten! :( Game continues to impress me, very clever and lots of fun. :)

Dungeonism.

Game is fun and charming. I love that music! Havent gotten really far into it, but Ive been liking the first few dungeons. I wish some aspects of the game were explained better, but the trial and error is part of the fun.

Totally rad

Do yourself a favor and plunk the two bucks down on this. Totally worth it, totally rad.

Great game!

Update: beaten the game. Removed a star as the game becomes WAY TOO EASY halfway through. Armor, chain lightning, and mine/bomb spells make you very OP. I just started running through the motions and 1hit killing bosses... Kinda roguelike without the permanent death. Unique style and soundtrack. Only complaint would be the ambiguous elements in the game that lacks any in-depth explanations. But I guess that adds to the fun of it as well.

Right Up My Alley

I just stumbled across this game while looking up another similar app, Hoplite I think. I love this type of strategy game, but I can say Im getting eye strain from playing on my iPhone for so long. Worth the $1.99 for sure. Should be listed in little known games lists since it has been around for awhile but with so few reviews. I like the simple artwork and music as well. Masterpiece. Probably wont happen but Id like to see an addition to the dungeons or a part 2. Id pay another $2. Edit: as another reviewer alluded to balance could be considered an issue. Takes a long time to collect enough coin to equip with armor, then once equipped the game become a bit too easy which nullifies the best quality of the game ... Strategy. One fix is to reframe from equipping. So still 5 stars all the way, just remove "masterpiece" until balance is updated or part 2 is released.

!

This game is easily in my app store top 5 and Ive played hundreds of iOS games. Terrific.

Ridiculously addictive

I played this a year ago and got completely addicted. I forgot all about this game until just now when I randomly found it. It is so good that I refuse to download it again. If youve never tried it, be careful it is crazy addictive!

Lots of grinding

I didnt find a lot of opportunities for strategy in this game. Its more about playing stages over and over to level up your character and buy stat boosting gear -- all so you can move to the next stage and do it again. Grinding became kind of a grind. Very cool art style and mostly intuitive to play though.

Different but not better

There is no challenge, penalty, or difficulty in this game. U can beat any stage with any setup and have a blast. Sometimes there are bugs and u waste 3 mins trying to complete a level. There is no story line or clear objective as why you are doing anything. Thus, the game becomes tedious and you slowly realize you are just wasting time. Uninstalled.

Tap n Slash Greatness

One thing I have learned from using Amazon and Apple, is that one can rely on the reviews. If someone is going to take the time to write something, anything, about something, in this day and age- it should be important. For that reason I am pausing from the usual hack and slash of this blog, to revierw a great app- Dungeonism. This game is a modern roguel-like, though some would say it is a rogue-like as it is rather forgiving. In the game you play an adventurer traversing a strange and distant land filled with monsters of all sorts. Truly the classics are represented here: bats, ogres, golems, spirits, ghosts- the archetypal dungeon types. Rivers and crevisses flow throughout the screen, mazes and puzzles challenge the dungeoneer. The music is great, the sound is appropriate and tends to release that rush of dopamine. The character can buy equipment, collect treasure and choose to increase a variety of skills with experience points. By far the best thing about Dungeonism, is the graphics- not your usual fantasy pixel but a very stream-lined neon-like world. Once the player stops missing those video games of the 80s, they can sit back and really enjoy the experience of the game. The only thing missing from Dungeonism is perhaps harder enemies or levels and no doubt the game needs more levels, though there are over a hundred screens to adventure through. For that last and only last reason, I give the game 4.5 stars. If it expands and becomes just a bit harder it would join that elite group- the only game I would have on my phone. The other being Dungeon Raid. Anyone notice a pattern?

Buggy

Played from start and got through forest 1 and 2, seems great. Forest 3 crashes randomly by showing part of a broken looking map that I cant move within. Please fix
